Welcome to my personal bragging, technology ramblings & thoughtful food and beverage ravings site.
I'm a seasoned IT veteran of 20+ years who started at the bottom of a helpdesk at an M&A firm and, driven by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, learned and grew into a sysadmin and strategic leader.
I am a tinkerer and a network & server hobbyist at heart. In the mid 90's I saw an ad for a Gateway computer that could be connected to a TV and I thought, "Wow! That's incredible! Imagine what you could do with that." In the early 00's I had started learning about networking, because my roommates and I REALLY NEEDED to play Counterstrike and Half-life together in the house that we were renting. In the mid 00's I discovered Windows XP Media Center Edition, and I came full circle to the Gateway ad from about a decade prior.
Yes, I (over)built my own Tivo of sorts, when Tivo was still pretty new, and years before providers offered their own DVR solutions. I could record months of shows for myself and my roommates, who were able to stream them with their first-gen Xboxes in their rooms.
Then I discovered virtualization. Then containerization. Then more ways to use storage and more apps to automate things for me.
And here we are today.
